TEHRAN – Some Three million historical objects are currently being kept in museums which are affiliated with the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, IRNA reported on Wednesday. 

“There are 600 museums across Iran, some half of which are associated with private collectors or various institutions,” said Mohammadreza Kargar who presides over CHHTO’s Museums and Historical Moveable Properties Office. 

A total of 19 million people visited CHHTO-affiliated museums during the past Iranian calendar year (ended March 20),” Kargar said, adding, “It is estimated that the number of visitors will rise by 15 percent this year.”
